Val's 'new' Vespa

She wanted a real scooter to get the feel of scootering. She saw the Vespa PK50 and said "That's real".

The scooter is over 20 years old and pretty tame by today's standards - all the better for someone who's never ridden a motorised two-wheeler.
Here is a short film of her test-riding the Vespa for the first time.

So it doesn't look like made for the fast life but it DOES look wonderful. I love vespas :-)

We all love you, Maria.

I can see why you stayed so far back, Koos. ;) She is the epitome of those aggressive Netherlander drivers we feared on the roads last summer!

Looks like great fun. Now you need one.

Her becoming Dutch is a slow and gradual, all the while inescapable process.
It first shows in the aggressive riding style I emphasise so cleverly by the dynamic editing.

Her long term goal is to ride a scooter that goes faster than my Yamaha

You find the Yamaha here in more detail.

Koos, great camera work! I think your Yamaha looks very space-aged and streamlined next to the Vespa, but I am a purist (and a coward), so my vote's still on Vally's.

How did you manage to clear all the other traffice away? Or was that just what happened as soon as Val started riding?

Koos F said...

Thanks Margie!
Re the lack of other traffic: I have friends in the Rotterdam Police Department (but don't tell Val).

Cool!
I REALLY want to buy a scooter when we move back to Taipei next month...so many people are discouraging me though...they are telling me it's too dangerous.
I like living dangerously!

Thanks for visiting my blog Koos!
So nice to see you again.

I am going to buy Val's book- I enjoyed the few chapters I read. I have a hard time reading books on the computer.

Take care Koos!
Love,
Suexx

It looks like she did alright. Soon she'll be speeding through the streets of Amsterdam :)

MargieCM said...

Koos - Vally's beaten you in getting her review of the concert up. Now I'm waiting for yours!

It sounds as if it was brilliant, and I'm so happy for you both.

You'd better keep an eye on that pretty red scooter of yours.....!

She's a natural! Motorcycle speed-racer Mama! Look out!

damn, I forgot to watch the vid while in high speed land... I'll be there later.
on another note, Koos, if you have a moment, could you stop my my blog and let me know if you would like me to light a luminary for anyone?
:)

Stevie said...

AHA!
Finally watched Vespa Val burn up the streets!
Most excellent!

Awesome! Val looks like an expert rider! I would probably have a broken something after my first attempt. :)

Val is utterly ADORABLE!!! Ride on Val!

Remember - lean don't steer...

Vallypee said...

Haha Dale! I see you know something about this biking business. Lean don't steer is right, but you need a tad more confidence than I have to do that! It will come...need more time, need more time....

May I just add my tuppence worth here and thank everyone for these lovely messages! I'm not really a natural at all - Koos's camera works makes it look far more assured, but I did keep going all the time, mainly because I was too scared to stop...haha!

Hi Koos,

sorry, because I'm very late with a comment. First thank you for the link to your "Tommy" post. I bought the LP 1972, but today I can hear it anymore, because there are a lot of scratches. Today I listen to the CD. I love this version.
Do you have the CD???

The video with Val as mod with her scooter is great.

This week I saw THE WHO in Oberhausen. I thought I was in the netherlands, because such a lot of Dutch people at the arena. Fantastic mood and a great gig.

Love and peace
Stefan
