Version 1a of GarageBand tune

As the title suggests, this piece of music features Valerie on mandolin. The working title is now Here come Mandy v1a, (1.8MB) and there is room for more versions. We have chosen a rather conventional approach for the real acoustical part, with me on my western guitar as accompaniment.
We need to do something about the timing, but that is part of the process anyway.
We are looking forward to the comments.

Hi Koos,

In my opinion, this is even better than the first one. I just love the mandolin with the guitar - it gives it such a modern Celtic feel to the music (which is so popular in my neck of the woods). I also really like the beat - slow and steady (well, not that slow, but not fast - very purposeful, but still keeping its groove... you know what I mean!). Great job you guys!

Thanks, Mary Beth, your words do me (us) good. We feel very rich, owning that little Apple Mac multimedia studio, a lovely mandolin, several acoustic guitars and a beautiful b-brand Telecaster and a modest ukelele.
Thanks for sharing your Chicago pics with us. As said before, that city attracts me mighty!

Hi Koos,

I too like this version. I love the sound of the mandolin. I think Dale's idea of a Mandolin solo would be very nice. Can't wait to hear it when it is finished.

Thanks for sharing this.

Dear Koos

I am listening for the second time as I am commenting.

I sense a Pete Townshend influence...

This is fantastic! I like this "fuller" version. It might be easier for me to imagine lyrics now.
I am considering ones that have an international flavour...

Ooh, I like it. It has more energy than the first one, which was languid and mellow, and made my hips want to groove.

Cheers,

Hi Koos,
Like the tune and imagine, not being home, I could only hear it through the tiny speakers of a lab-top. When will you be climbing the charts...?

Dear Koos

It was fun chatting with you on Wednesday after ITA, which I missed.

I also miss your photos!
Please post some more for us to enjoy.

I still love the little ditty that you're working on.
Haven't had much time to think about lyrics, because it's been such a hectic week.

Love
Dale

I was wondering...
Seeing as you live on a Dutch barge & don't have a garage for your "garage band" to practice in - you must practice in the basement...

Hi Koos,

What lovely pictures you have on your blog! I haven't been here for a while, boy what did I miss!

As far as that Who video on my blog is concerned, I just went to YouTube and did a Who search and found lots of stuff, but this one I think is the winner!
Where do people get all these videos? I don't know... Thank God for technology!

Nice chatting with you last night, as always. I didn't watch ITA, I was at work... Urgh!

Take care,

My dear James Casey has alerted me to your music through his blog. It's been a pleasure listening. I have also enjoyed your beautiful nautical photos!
Thank you so much for collaborating with me on the Virgin Mary painting. It looks much better!
Love and good wishes, Elizabeth

My thought would be to bring the mandolin in at a softer level and then bring that level up to accent the mandolin above the rest, and then back down when the mandolin exits.

Hi Joe,
Excellent thought, I'll do that rightaway.
Thanks for what I think is the advice of a pro.
