Be careful what you wish

When I was about 14, our family doctor was a man in his early thirties, and I was deeply impressed by the way he looked.
I especially admired the rather pronounced vertical folds on both sides of his mouth, and I remember wishing one day I'd look like he did.

My wish came true gradually, and now I have had very similar folds in my face for a long time.

What I hadn't realised was that the man was bald...

Meanwhile a few years ago my next generation said he hoped he would ever look like me.
Aww shame.
He is losing his hair rapidly now, but no sign of the desired skin folds.
As our beloved Sindy would say: 's Not fair!

So very true! This is why I gave up wishing to look like the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz...green skin, a hook nose and a mad cackle is NOT that attractive!

It seems humans are never satisfied with their looks, eh? I've already promised my girls to a few fellow girlfriends, and wish they could take them now. I'd love to wear a backless dress like Julie Christie did in the film Shampoo- just once!

Over the years, I've learned there is no such thing as an ugly face - my own included.
